Diagnose ADHD in Adults


Life is full of works and tension. In between you may forget to do some of the works that you had planned. It may happen for once, twice, thrice. But if it goes on i.e. you keep forgetting, you are keeping yourself disorganized and always late, then you are suffering from attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Its symptoms are very frustrating that can make your personal and professional life a hell.

Diagnose ADHD in adults is a very difficult task for the health care provider. Many experts believe that, hardly there is any test to diagnose ADHD in adults. It is believed that a person is diagnosed with ADHD only after he has shown some of the symptoms for a period of 6 months. ADHD is divided into 3 types. They are:-

•    Primarily Inattentive
•    Primarily Hyperactive
•    Combined

What are the symptoms of ADHD in adults? It is different from those which occur in children. Each individual has different symptoms from others i.e. They are unique for every adult. It can be difficult for you to organize yourself. As the responsibilities go on increasing on the adults, it is difficult for them to remember each and everything. Disorganized is the basic symptom that every doctor looks for. It is very much difficult for the person to stay focused on daily tasks as they can easily be distracted by other means. Sometimes just the opposite may happen. The person might get into the work so much that, he may forget all the other tasks to do. This is called hyper focus. If a person suffers from ADHD, he may lose his temper very shortly. It is difficult for them to be patient. They may interrupt you always in between. They may say things without considering the consequences. It is difficult for them to manage their emotions.

To diagnose ADHD, certain things can be followed. They are:- Try to collect all the information about the behavior of the person in his or her childhood. Collect information about the job of the person.

Try to talk with the closed ones such life partner, best friend or any other close person. They will give all the information about day to day behavior, which are the things that make the person annoyed or feels interesting in doing.

You can go for various tests such as a physical examination or psychological tests. 
These steps along with medicines can reduce the effect of ADHD in adults. Don’t give it up so easily!!!
